Running PIMS


Loading the program and analyzing a built-in data set

1) From the Model menu, select PIMS. You will see the Introduction dialog box.
2) Click Next to get the Main Menu.
3) In the Data Set Maintenance Area, select the Built-in option and then select a built-in data set from the drop down menu..
4) Click Analysis and you will see the Model Selection dialog box. Select the model and click Run Model. You will see the Output/Sensitivity Analysis dialog box. Sensitivity analysis gives you the change in the firm's expected ROI, if a variable, such as % unionization, takes a new value.
5) To run a sensitivity analysis select a variable from the Variable to change drop-down menu in the Output/Sensitivity Analysis dialog box and enter the new value for it in the New Value box. Click OK and you will be presented with the firm's new expected ROI.

By Product Type
Consumer Product Manufacturer - Indicates that the firm manufactures consumer products.
Industrial Product Manufacturer - Indicates that the firm manufactures products that are purchased by other industries.
Service and distribution - Indicates that the firm is involved in the service industry.

By Market Location
North America -Indicates that the firm is located in the United States or Canada.
Outside of North America - Indicates that the firm is located in countries other than the United States or Canada.

By Life Cycle Stage
Growth/ Growth Maturity - Indicates that the firm's business is in the growth stage.
Stable Maturity - Indicates that the firm's business is stable which implies that annual revenues have reached a peak and the firm has little scope for increasing revenues further.
Decline Maturity/ Decline - Indicates that the firm's business has reached a stage of decline, which implies that the firm can expect its annual revenues to decline in the future.

By Market Position
Market Leader -The firm is one of the two or three leaders amongst the players in its industry.
Market Follower - The firm does not play a leading role in its industry.
